2025: it’s a start
welcoming in the new year with sore muscles (from yardwork & dancing.) echoes sent into the void (will anyone read this, & does it matter to me either way?) dreading work as usual tomorrow (but what is new?) I spent a stupid amount of money on journaling supplies that aren’t arriving until the 3rd, so getting my thoughts/life together analog-style will be fashionably late. 2024 was a year I bought too many clothes, & none of them were a magical talisman against anxiety & depression. to begin this year, I’m jumping into mandy lee’s 75 hard style challenge, setting low-buy intentions, & working on my ephemeral novel.
Here’s a few outfits I’ve loved recently:
worn on a particularly chilly day (for nc). Love the color & texture pairings here — something that brings true joy to getting dressed.
rayon striped mockneck, thrifted (originally from uo)
1960s mayo spruce lucy sweat, chopped in another life but it was cheaper than a pristine one, from luckyguessvintage on insta
surrealist newsprint slit skirt, hades wool (one of my favorite brands!)
cable knit tights, calzedonia
angora socks, ebay
patent maryjanes, cos
1960s mohair checkerboard coat, rumorsdsm on insta
always love a good chartreuse/slime moment, especially when paired with pastel pink!
the substance tee, handscreened by emptyyisland on insta
simone rocha sheer babydoll dress, secondhand from vestiaire
simone rocha mohair crop cardi, secondhand from vestiaire
lime tights, calzedonia
cashmere socks, hansel from basel
sandy liang chartreuse pointe flats, scored during the bfcm sale!
my nye ensemble, to be repeated shamelessly! ice blue + burgundy is a favorite winter combo, & while it’s trending hard now, I’ll wear it til the end of time.
cecilie bahnsen alexa dress, secondhand from posh (I love this silhouette so much I ended up buying the black version direct from cb’s site on massive sale last night 🙈 )
baserange lettuce hem longsleeve, ssense sale
velvet bow tights, tezenis
pastel blue socks & oxblood patent flats, cos
1960s mohair striped cardi, eBay
marni trunk bag (which I stuff til it can’t close), found on baltini for cheapish
today’s new years fit for wednesday scaries, & day one of 75 hard style challenge!
1950s kids redwoods souvenir tee, solidgoodsvintage on insta
brushed cashmere v-neck sweater, j crew on massive sale
cupcake mini skirt, homeofhai
lilac tights, welovecolors (literally had these for 10 years!)
her socks, le bon shoppe
doc mary janes, doc martens
1990s wilson leather rabbit fur crop jacket, posh
loewe amazona decked out with lots of friendos, secondhand from vestiaire
and to cap this lengthy first post, here’s virginia woolf’s 1931 resolutions:
“to have none. not to be tied. to be free & kindly with myself. sometimes to read, sometimes not to read. to go out, yes—but stay at home in spite of being asked. as for clothes, I think to buy good ones.”
